Yoga for Self-Care
Whether I am in a class or doing yoga in my living room, I about always observe that if I can let go and relax into a pose, I feel more integrated, calmer, and happier.
Yoga has been a good friend to me through the years. I began my practise back in 1999 at the Willow Street Yoga studio. Suzie Hurley and her squad focus on alignment and "eye-centered" yoga. Teachers instruct and right your form, while too calling you to pay attention to how y'all "testify up" on your yoga mat.
Is your listen decorated?
Are you lot comparison your "performance" to anybody else'due south?
Are you leaning forward or dorsum in your pose, or are you lot able to come to the middle and stay in the moment?
The practice calls yous to pay acute attention to your form, while likewise letting go of the need to exist perfect. If it sounds similar a contradiction, it is. Life is full of contradictions and opposing forces that we accept to work to bring into residue, such as piece of work and play or planning and letting go. When a pose is very challenging, and trying to right my form while also just letting go and existence nowadays feels impossible, I hear Suzie'southward voice in my head, maxim"surrender to grace." This always helps me to let get, request help from a power beyond myself, and tune into the beauty of the moment. That brings the joy and relaxation into my yoga, and back into my life.
